World Hospice Day in Suhl: Courageous conversations about life and death!
This coming weekend everything revolves around the sensitive but unfortunately often suppressed topic of dying, death and grief. World Hospice Day has been celebrated on the second Saturday in October since 2005 to promote social discussion of these issues. InSouth Thuringia reports that the coordinator of the Suhl outpatient hospice group, Britta Schlütter, emphasizes the importance of breaking this taboo. She cordially invites anyone interested to actively engage with the topic.
On October 11th, the hospice group is organizing an extensive package of offers to mark World Hospice Day. A highlight will be the expected presence of Dorothea Kromphardt, an actress and hospital clown who is known for her moving experiences with seriously ill children. Her reading from her book “Soap bubbles made of tear water – about love and a clown in the death room” will take place on October 10th at 4 p.m. in the Suhl city library.
A day full of activities and workshops
On October 10th there will be bubble activities and entertaining performances by the clowns Fubiala and Astrid from 3 p.m. These actions are intended to help bring some lightness to these difficult topics while at the same time creating space for reflection.
In addition, a free workshop with Kromphardt will take place on October 11th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the hospice group's rooms at Hufelandstrasse 11. The aim here is to make it easier to deal with dying, death and grief. Donations are welcome, and a lunch in the form of solyanka will be provided. Dorothea Kromphardt has written about the fates of children and their parents and in her work has brought together various perspectives on dealing with death, some of which are influenced by the expression of the children themselves.
A valuable work for everyone
Kromphardt's reports deal sensitively with the fears and hopes that blossom in difficult times. The stories in her book “Cuddly Stories” take us on the final journey with the protagonists and invite us to reflect on humility, gratitude and the challenges of life. These stories are a gift for adults and raise awareness of one's own earthly end.
With an exciting program and the moving themes of World Hospice Day, there is something for everyone.
