There will be a very special celebration in Eisenach on Friday, September 5th, because the children and youth center “Alte Posthalterei” at Georgenstrasse 52 is celebrating its 30th anniversary. The house opens its doors from 2 p.m. and visitors can expect a varied supporting program. Among other things, DJ Silvio Hocke will provide musical entertainment, while the dance group Noir will delight the audience with their performance. The band “States of Mind” has also announced and will be holding an open rehearsal in the basement. Admission to the celebration is free and promises to be a real celebration for the whole family.
Since its opening in 1995, the children's and youth center has developed into an open facility that is looked after by committed educational professionals. Particularly worth mentioning is the extensive renovation of the listed building, in which a total of around 2.3 million euros were invested. Over 1.8 million euros come from urban development funding, supplemented by various donations. The final renovation measures included restoring the facade and re-covering the roof.
A historic building with tradition
The “Alte Posthalterei” was built in 1819 in the architectural style of classicism. The central part of the facade, which is characterized by the main entrance with Doric columns, attracts attention. Inside, visitors can enjoy stucco ceilings and a specially designed wooden stair railing. These elements worth preserving not only give the building historical significance, but also an unmistakable charm.
The anniversary celebration is not only organized by those responsible for the children and youth center. The Jugendweihe Westthüringen association, the Wartburgkreis youth ring and the Wartburgkreis traffic police also support the event. This ensures sufficient entertainment and a colorful get-together.
Support for youth
Another interesting point of contact in the region is the Don Bosco Sannerz youth welfare center, which is run by the German Province of the Salesians of Don Bosco. With a wide range of offerings for young people, committed full-time and volunteer employees, and the opportunity for voluntary service, this center offers a valuable contact point. The premises are located at Birkenweg 15, 36391 Sinntal-Sannerz. Here, not only young people, but also interested parties can participate in the work of the Salesians through donations and donations and thus make an important contribution.
The connection and exchange between these institutions shows how important it is to focus on the needs and support of children and young people. The upcoming anniversary of the “Alte Posthalterei” is a further step towards strengthening this community initiative and further expanding social ties.
