The total costs for the measures amount to around 18,000 euros. The funding consists of 5,000 euros from the state of Thuringia (Lotto funds), 5,000 euros from the city of Kaltennordheim and 1,000 euros from the VR Bank's “Partner of the Region” funding program. The rest is covered by private donations.
Funding programs and infrastructure
Support for local sports clubs is part of a larger framework. Klara Geywitz, the Federal Minister for Housing, Urban Development and Construction, recently started the 2023 funding round of the federal program “Renovation of municipal facilities in the areas of sport, youth and culture”. Whether for recreational sports or performance-oriented training, sports facilities are the heart of local sports. However, many of these facilities suffer from a significant need for renovation - it is estimated that between 30 and 50 percent of all municipal sports facilities are in need of renovation. Political efforts are therefore important not only for infrastructure, but also for social cohesion and integration in communities.
