Full closure in Barchfeld: diversions and disruptions announced!
There will be some extensive construction sites in the Wartburgkreis region in the coming weeks, which will affect both drivers and residents. On Monday, November 10th, Liebensteiner Straße (L 1027) in Barchfeld will be completely closed from 7:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on November 21st. The plan includes renovation work on the Schweinabach retaining wall area as well as work on the pedestrian crossing and its markings. Nürnberger Straße (B 19 old) will also not be fully accessible during this period. Here, roadway repair work is required on two pedestrian crossings in front of the former pharmacy and at the junction with Liebensteiner Straße, like Eisenach Online reported.
However, there is a way out for residents: They can reach the areas within the closure, such as the doctor's office and the DHL point, via the municipal roads “Zur Neue Schule”, “Hotzelsgasse” and “Obere Quergasse”. The diversion of through traffic will take place via the newly created B 19 bypass. The authorities ask road users to follow the signposted traffic routes and to allow additional time. We ask for your understanding of the impairments.
Further road closures in the Wartburg district
But this is not the only construction site in the region. Another full closure scenario has also been planned. On Wednesday, August 13, 2025, local road number 6 in Kahlenberg will be closed from 8 a.m. to probably 11 a.m. in order to repair a defective power line. Residents can only drive up to number 6, as can be found on the Wartburgkreis website.
In addition, on Thursday, August 14th, the L 1027 near Steinbach will be completely closed from 12 p.m. until Monday, August 18th. The background is preparations and the mountain slalom on the Glasbach mountain race course, which will take place on Saturday and Sunday. The diversion takes place via the L 1127, Brotterode, Trusetal and Bad Liebenstein.
Importance of road infrastructure
This road maintenance work is an important contribution to maintaining the transport infrastructure. According to the Federal Ministry of Transport, it is crucial that roads remain in good condition to ensure road safety and maintain the quality of life of residents. In Germany, over 120,000 vehicles are on the roads every day and the necessary maintenance measures should be coordinated with other projects in order to avoid major damage.
The condition of the roads is continuously documented in order to react quickly to various types of damage if necessary. It is therefore important that residents and road users follow the authorities' instructions and show consideration while these necessary works are carried out.
