Un against Israel: Drama for relief supplies and civilian victims are inflamed!

Rafah, Gaza, Palästina - A persistent dispute between the United Nations and Israel on humanitarian aid in the Gaza Strip has led to sharp reactions and demands for an independent examination. The Israeli Foreign Minister Oren Marmorstein has described a statement by UN Secretary-General António Guterres as "shame" because he criticizes incidents in which Palestinians were killed or injured in relief goods distributions. Marmorstein questions whether the help of the people in Gaza is important or whether they support Hamas, while Guterres emphasizes the need for an immediate and independent examination of these incidents.

As the health authority reports in the Gaza Strip, at least 24 people are said to have been killed in an incident near Rafah. However, these figures are rejected by Israel, which carries out a preliminary investigation. The Israeli army claims that it was not shot to civilians, but on suspects that would have ignored warning shots. Marblestein criticizes Guterres that he does not mention the Hamas in his message and does not lose any words to reject a ceasefire proposal or to release hostages by Hamas.

The escalating conflict

The conflict continues to escalate because Israel had blocked aid deliveries in the Gaza Strip for almost three months. In the current Situation, the Gaza Humanitrian Foundation (GHF) is distributed, while Israel demands that the UN do not handle any relief from Hamas to ensure that they are not diverted. In the meantime, reports on civilian victims were made up of Israeli artillery fire and fighter planes published by the Palestinian news agency WAFA. However, this information is not checked independently.

Guterres continues to express his horror about the reports and emphasizes that it is unacceptable that Palestinians have to risk their lives for food. In similar incidents on the weekend, at least 31 people are said to have been killed and over 170 others were injured. The International Committee of the Red Cross reports almost 180 injuries and about 20 dead people in the Rotkreuz field hospital in Rafah.

The attitude of the Israeli government

In a sharp answer to Guterres' statements, the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs criticized the UN. Israel denies the allegations and emphasizes that it is not intended to restrict access to distribution centers for civilians. In addition, the Israeli military published recordings that allegedly show how Hamas fighters shoot civilians, although these recordings are also not verified. Marmorstein demands that the UN recognize the facts and revised the communication of Guterres.

The current situation illustrates how tense the relationship between Israel and Hamas is and how complex the humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip are. The continuing violence and the political discussion raise questions about the efforts to help humanitarian aid and the duties of everyone involved to protect the life of the civilian population while the international reactions stop
