Woidke congratulates Nawrocki: New era for Brandenburg and Poland!
Brandenburg's Prime Minister Dietmar Woidke congratulated the newly elected Polish President Karol Nawrocki on Sunday. This political change at the top of Poland is particularly carefully pursued with regard to German-Polish relationships, since Nawrocki is considered a right-wing conservative politician. Woidke represented the importance of the neighborhood between Germany and Poland and emphasized that the German-Polish encounters in everyday life have become normal. This integration is considered an essential part of the European unification process.
Furthermore, Woidke noted that numerous cross -border topics can only be solved in the common dialogue. In this context, deeper cooperation with Poland is laid down in the constitution of the state of Brandenburg. The existing economic and cultural networks along the Oder and Neisse were described as particularly fruitful. In particular, the cooperation between the East German countries and the Western Polish codes shows that a reliable partnership was built up.
The new beginning of German-Polish relationships
The German-Polish border received its current form in 1945 in the course of the Potsdam Agreement. In the period of communism, there were cross -border contacts, but these contributed little to reconciliation. A fresh start was only possible with the fall of the iron curtain and the reunification of Germany. The signed border contracts created the basis for improving cross -border cooperation in the past 30 years.
The euro regions founded in the 1990s are a sign for this grown cooperation. With the aim of promoting cooperation between the regions, both states undertook to provide mutual support in their neighborhood contracts. Particularly noteworthy is the fact that the cooperation close to the border is perceived as normal and useful. Nevertheless, there are also challenges: linguistic, economic and cultural differences often represent obstacles.
historical perspectives and challenges
The reported knowledge about German-Polish history show a changeable relationship that has existed since the 10th century. The first written mention of a Polish ruler as the "friend of the emperor" already indicates a long history of friendship and also conflicts. Especially the time around the Second World War and the subsequent division of relationships are formative.
According to the case of communism, relationships between the two countries experienced a positive turn. Poland's accession to the EU in 2004 was celebrated by the outside ministers of both countries, which symbolized the desire for further integration. The latest developments, especially the political change in Poland due to the election victory of Karol Nawrocki, offer new opportunities for trusting cooperation and promoting a stable Europe. Woidke is convinced that the relationships between Brandenburg and Poland will continue to develop well and sees Poland as a guarantee of a strong and some Europe, firmly anchored in the EU.
The challenges, such as demographic change and structural problems in the border regions, must continue to be tackled together in the future. This requires both political determination and a will to cooperate at a subnational level.
