SILBERSALZ Festival in Halle: Science meets emotions and art!

The SILBERSALZ Science & Media Festival has opened its doors in Halle (Saale) and is already attracting numerous visitors. On October 29, 2025, the festival was ceremoniously opened in the Kaufhaus am Markt, with a rousing keynote by Dr. Mai Thi Nguyen-Kim and an impressive screening of the documentary “How Deep is Your Love” by Eleanor Mortimer. The festival, which has the motto “It works!” is available, runs until November 2nd and offers a varied program.

Over 120 events and 20 impressive installations at 14 different locations ensure a colorful hustle and bustle. Not only film fans get their money's worth here, but also those interested in science get their money's worth with discussions and performances. Rainer Robra, State Minister for Culture of Saxony-Anhalt, emphasized the focal points of the festival in his opening speech: energy, movement and encounters. What is particularly exciting is the new concept of citizen participation that is being promoted at the festival. The audience also has the opportunity to vote for their favorite film in the SILBERSALZ Audience Award.

A diverse program for everyone

This year's festival offers a rich program: 24 films, including German premieres, three planetarium productions and six short film programs are on the schedule. High-profile guests such as Heiko and Roman Lochmann, Claudine Nierth, Dr. Jacob Beautemps and many other experts are expected. The focus is on the dialogue between science and society, and under the motto “It works!” Science is made understandable and tangible for everyone.

Interactive exhibitions such as “Hotspot” by Marlot Meyer and “She’s so Centsible!” by Passion Asasu, invite visitors to delve deeper into the subject. Donata von Perfall, the festival's director, emphasizes the central role of emotions in the connection between science and society.

Highlights and other events

The festival also brings special events such as the Industry Training Days in the Handel Hall, which take place on October 31st and November 1st. Here, experts can further their education and be inspired in workshops and presentations. The interactive formats are particularly exciting, allowing visitors to become an active part of the events. The program is online at www.silbersalz-festival.com/de to find.

The SILBERSALZ Festival is more than just an event; it is a platform for the exchange of ideas and thoughts between science and society. The combination of film, discussion and interaction makes this festival unique and unforgettable.
