On June 28th, 2025 it's that time again: The 7th Ulrich's Court Spectacle awaits all doll friends big and small in the inner courtyard of the Ulrichskirche in Halle (Saale). This imaginative event, which has long since become an integral part of summer culture, promises a varied program full of stories, characters and music. The city of Halle (Saale) and the local scene of independent puppet and figure theaters have provided an exciting supporting program.
Overall, artists from Halle as well as renowned guests from Berlin, Thuringia and the Netherlands are taking part in this colorful day. The participating groups include the Julia Raab puppet theater, the Fluxx Theater and the creative Kaspertheater by Erik van Ophem from the Netherlands. Various productions are presented, including classics such as “Thumbelina” and “Kasper. How bewitched. It’s all just theater!” Throughout the day, guests can enjoy numerous great performances that are full of surprises.
Diverse program for all generations
The festival starts at 9:45 a.m. with the opening by Jacob Simon and Julia Raab. This is followed by an arc of excitement throughout the day, rounded off by a concert by the duo “Jack & Queen” at 6:30 p.m. The performances include:
- 10:00 Uhr: „Flora und der Baum – Figurentheater vom Loslassen“ (Figurentheater Julia Raab)
- 11:30 Uhr: „Däumelinchen“ (Figurentheater Märchenteppich)
- 14:00 Uhr: „Kasper. Wie verhext. Alles nur Theater!“ (Fluxx-Theater)
- 15:30 Uhr: „Der Alltag von Jan Klaassen“ (Kaspertheater Erik van Ophem, Niederlande)
- 17:00 Uhr: „Spinnlein, Spinnlein an der Wand“ (crabs & creatures)
In addition, there will be entertaining hand puppet scenes from the autonomous puppet theater and walking acts with tigers and bears, which will provide extra fun. Admission is free for all events, making the festival particularly inviting - an ideal destination for families and puppet theater lovers.
Commitment to culture
Despite the joyful preparations, there were challenges as the event was about to be canceled due to the city's withdrawn funds. But the organizers were not discouraged and did everything they could to get the festival off the ground. Everyone involved deserves great respect for their commitment to keeping cultural life in Halle alive and promoting it.
