100 years of top research: Tud celebrates textile innovations with anniversary
Dresden, Deutschland - On June 10, 2025, the Institute for Textile Machines and Textile High-performance material technology (ITM) of the Technical University of Dresden (TUD) celebrated its 100th anniversary. The celebrations, which were under the motto "100 years of textile top research", attracted more than 400 guests from science, industry, politics and society. The Tud can look back on a total of 175 years of teaching and research in the field of textile technology and has profiled itself as an international center for textile high -performance technologies.
The festival colloquium took place in the lecture hall center of the TUD and addressed both the beginnings of the institute and its current research fields, which include medical implants, construction and lightweight technologies and smart materials. The day found its musical highlight in an evening event in the Dresden Albertinum.
Scientific exchange platform for the global textile community
A central part of the celebrations was the orientation of the Autex 2025 World Textile Conference, which is considered an important forum for scientific exchange in the field of textile research and development. Around 300 participants from over 40 countries have come together for this conference, which made it possible to present over 200 lectures and poster contributions on topics such as bio -based fibers, sustainability, textile sensors and medical technology.
The conference has also stimulated the submission of abstracts for a conference band published by Springer Verlag. In order to guarantee the scientific quality, the work of at least two independent experts is checked. Complete papers are required to be recorded in the conference band.
innovations in the field of textile materials
A look at current developments shows that textile research not only makes significant progress in Dresden, but also at the Institute for Textile Technology at RWTH Aachen University. The focus is on the development of high -performance fibers and technical textiles that are used in application areas such as clothing, lightweight construction and medical technology. Both melting and solvent spinning techniques are used here to create innovative products.
The institute conducts basic research, which ranges from publicly funded projects to special development orders. State -modern systems are available to modify materials and test the suitability for different spinning methods. This infrastructure enables the production of a variety of innovative fiber types, including bicomponent fibers and corrosion -resistant materials.
In summary, it can be seen that the anniversary celebration of the ITM not only offered a review of 100 years of excellent research, but also granted an outlook on the future of textile innovative strength in Germany and beyond.Details | |
