Construction work: S-Bahn failures between Schöneweide and Grünau!

The S-Bahn Berlin has announced a series of construction work for the coming weeks. These will result in restricted traffic on valuable routes, which will create an additional obstacle for all commuters. The measures are necessary to build a new electronic signal box at the Schöneweide S-Bahn station, which includes, among other things, new foundations for signals, cable laying, track crossings and switch loops. According to Berlin Live, construction work will begin on Friday, July 4th at 9:45 p.m. and end on Monday, July 7th at 1:30 a.m.

During this time, train traffic between Schöneweide and Grünau as well as Grünbergallee will be completely stopped. The S-Bahn lines S45, S46, S8, S85 and S9 are affected. In order to keep the impact on passengers as low as possible, a replacement bus service will be set up.

Replacement transport and stops

For the S46 line, the replacement buses run between Schöneweide and Grünau and stop at the stations Sterndamm, Wagner-Régeny-Allee, Rudower Chaussee and Richterstraße. The replacement bus line for the S9 also runs between Schöneweide and Grünbergallee, but also makes stops at Ewaldstrasse and Altglienicke.

All passengers are asked to find out about the routes in the S-Bahn app or on the notice boards before starting their journey. Tickets for the replacement buses must be purchased before the trip as tickets are not sold on the bus.

Further construction work and restrictions

These short-term restrictions are part of a series of extensive construction work currently being carried out on the S-Bahn network. There are also changes in frequency and other changes between Strausberg Nord and Strausberg, so that travelers have to adjust their timetable accordingly, as S-Bahn Berlin reports.

The S-Bahn recommends consulting the tried-and-tested S-Bahn app or the BVG website to stay informed about current changes. After all, it's not just construction work in Schöneweide, but also many other routes that will be temporarily closed or adjusted, which means that passengers should allow a little more time. An irregular rhythm, delays and additional changes are to be expected, as the Berliner Kurier describes.

With the ongoing construction work, the S-Bahn in Berlin will become more modern and more efficient in the long term, even if the current traffic situation has to be adjusted until the final work is completed. Passengers are asked to take the necessary precautions and remain flexible during this renovation phase.
