A festival of freedom: Berlin is not Salzburg” starts soon!

Things are really getting down to business in Berlin tomorrow! Finally, the eagerly awaited music and theater festival “Berlin is not Salzburg” begins on July 12, 2025 in the former Stasi headquarters. In the midst of the historical backdrop, a colorful program will be offered from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., including both music acts and the independent performing arts. Organized by the Federal Archives and the Stasi Records Archive Berlin-Lichtenberg, entry is free for all visitors. This creates an inclusive atmosphere that is aimed at everyone – regardless of previous knowledge or social status. In this way, culture can be experienced by everyone, and that's a good reason to celebrate!

The festival runs from July 11th to 13th, 2025, with the first events taking place today. In particular, the new adaptations of Mozart's “Secret Service Opera” and “The Magic Flute” are awaited with great curiosity. This critical examination of art and society promises to encourage visitors to think and enter into a dialogue about the current art world.

Diverse program with free guided tours

Anyone who would like to find out more about the background has the opportunity to take part in free express tours of the “Insight into the Secret” exhibition. These will take place this Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Each tour lasts around 30 minutes and offers exciting insights into the history of the place and its use. Registration is at einblick-ins-geheime@bundesarchiv.de or by phone at 030 18665-6699.

The entire festival is accompanied by an attractive ticket offer. Day tickets are available from just €25, with reduced rates and special pricing available for people with disabilities. A festival ticket, which gives access to all events, costs €30. Anyone who comes to the box office at short notice on Saturday must expect a surcharge of €5. However, children up to 14 years of age have free entry, which offers families a cost-effective way to enjoy cultural experiences together. And the best thing: advance sales for day tickets close just 30 minutes before admission begins, so even those who decide spontaneously can still get it!

An event that will be remembered

“Berlin is not Salzburg” promises to be a festival that not only entertains, but also addresses important social issues. It is a celebration of freedom and creative expression in a historical context that invites reflection. This not only offers culture, but also a critical examination of one's own history. So stay tuned and enjoy a weekend full of culture and exchange in Berlin.
