New rail connection: Prague, Berlin and Copenhagen from 2026 directly available!

From May 1, 2026, a new international direct connection from Prague via Berlin is rolling to Copenhagen. Initiated by Deutsche Bahn (DB) in cooperation with the Danish State Railway DSB and the Czech Railway ČD, this project brings a breath of fresh air to cross -border rail traffic. This reports Travelvor9 .

The trains of the modern Comfortjet will be on the road at speeds of up to 230 km/h and provide a total of two daily pairs of trains. The travel times are remarkable: it is around seven hours between Copenhagen and Berlin, while the route from Copenhagen to Prague takes about eleven hours. Attacks are scheduled for stops in Dresden and Hamburg. The Deutsche Bahn is to be set up via Berlin and Dresden to Prague, which reinforces the existing night connection from Hamburg to Copenhagen.

forward -looking initiatives and climate protection

This project is part of a larger EU pilot project that supports ten initiatives to improve cross-border rail traffic and to reduce obstacles. The European Commission has the clear goal of increasing the number of train connections between the big cities in the EU. EU transport commissioner Adina Vălean emphasizes that these projects not only help travelers but also to the environment, since demanding rail connections can significantly reduce CO2 emissions ( Europa.eu ).

Michael Peterson, board member of Deutsche Bahn, emphasizes the growing interest in international railways, while Berlin's governing mayor Kai Wegner regards this connection as a strengthening of Berlin as a European traffic junction. The Comfortjet will make do with 555 seats - 99 of which in the 1st grade. Travelers can also make themselves prepared for WiFi, mobile -powered windows, a bristle restaurant, adjustable seats, a children's cinema and the opportunity to take their bike with them. A lift is available for travelers restricted mobility.

A look into the future

The new connection to Copenhagen already complements the direct connections from Berlin to Paris and the planned project from Munich to Milan and Rome. This shows that Deutsche Bahn continuously works to expand its international long -distance transport offer.

With these developments it becomes clear that the future of rail traffic in Europe becomes a bit more sustainable and convenient. The new connections are not only an enrichment for travelers, but also a step in the right direction for environmentally friendly mobility. The anticipation for the new travel options is growing and gives the view beyond the box even more tempting.
