While Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg and Neukölln have a small overhang, many other districts are fighting with massive deficits.
The pressure grows and politics is required. A billion -dollar program for promoting focal point schools could be a glimmer of hope, because 180 schools in Berlin benefit from these means.
The key to improvement lies in a clever combination of new buildings, renovations and flexible solutions in order to ensure sufficient school places in the future. The development in Berlin remains exciting, but time is pushing.
