Trump and Zelensky discuss missile deliveries: danger to Europe!

An important meeting for the future of international relations took place on October 15, 2025: US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met to discuss US military support for Ukraine. As the WSWS reported, the focus is particularly on the delivery of Tomahawk cruise missiles, which can also reach targets in Russia with a range of up to 2,500 kilometers. Trump promised to support Zelensky in his desire for these weapons, which is perceived in the international community as a qualitative escalation of the conflict.

The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) estimates that numerous military installations within Russia are within range of these tomahawks. Russian officials have already warned of an immediate retaliatory response against NATO countries if Ukraine attacks with these missiles. The Tomahawks can transport both conventional and nuclear warheads. A NATO exercise called “Steadfast Noon” is currently underway in northern Europe, involving around 2,000 soldiers and over 70 aircraft. Germany is represented here with Tornado fighter jets, which are also capable of transporting US nuclear bombs.

Planned stationing of cruise missiles in Germany

Another important point that emerges from current developments is the upcoming stationing of US cruise missiles in Germany. The daily news informs that from 2026 such weapons will be stationed throughout Germany. This measure, initially temporary and later permanent, is intended to strengthen military deterrence in Europe and underscore US commitments to NATO.

The Tomahawk missiles are intended to be used to attack strategic targets such as command posts and radar systems at low altitude. With this decision, which is tied to an agreement on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Washington, the USA wants to make it clear how important the security of its NATO partners is to it. President Joe Biden has been committed to Europe's security architecture since the start of the Ukraine war; Nevertheless, a possible change of power, such as Donald Trump's return to the White House, could call all current decisions into question.

Federal government reacts to the threat from Russia

Germany itself is also reacting to these geopolitical developments. The federal government announced further militarization measures, such as Daily Mirror reported. Defense Minister Boris Pistorius announced that additional Eurofighters would be deployed to Poland. The German government is also planning to invest two billion euros in drones and anti-aircraft systems to support Ukraine and strengthen its own security situation.

While the Green Party is clearly in favor of supplying tomahawks to Ukraine, the Federal Intelligence Service and the Office for the Protection of the Constitution are warning of an emerging threat from Russia. The current rearmament in Germany represents the greatest militarization since the Nazi era and shows that the country is ready to take responsibility in European security policy.
