TTC Eastside celebrates the sixth champions League title despite the second leg loss!

TT DOME HEYSE25, Deutschland - On June 12, 2025, the table tennis women of the TTC Eastside Berlin won their sixth champions League title. In the second leg against Metz TT, they had to be satisfied with a 2: 3 defeat, but the previous 3: 1 backlog was sure that the title remains in Berlin. It was an exciting finale that clearly showed the team dynamics and the strengths of the players.

The encounter took place in the line -up of Sabina Surjan, Shan Xiaona and Mia Griesel. In the first match of the second leg, Sabina Surjan had to take a 0-3 defeat against Mariia Tailakova. Shan Xiaona, on the other hand, equalized with her sovereign 3-0 victory against Adina Diaconu, while Mia Griesel defeated 3-2 in a nerve-wracking duel Charlotte Lutz with 2-1. These victories ensured the starting point for winning the title, even if the following two games were no longer decisive for the overall ranking.

second leg and meaningless duels

In two other games that had no effects on the title win, Shan Xiaona again lost to Mariia Tailakova, while Sarah de Hooker from Metz won against Josi Neumann, which marked the final score of 3: 2 for Metz TT. The entire season was two and a half hours in which the Berliners won the title, despite the defeat.

Metz TT, which was in the final in 2023 and lost to Tarnobrzeg, had hoped for better performance in the second leg. For Eastside, the winning of the Champions League was a repetition of earlier successes in 2012, 2014, 2016, 2017 and 2021. Manager Andreas Hain had warned of the great class differences of the teams, but was confident.

preparation for the German championship

The Eastside table tennis women also prepare intensively for the upcoming German team championship, in which they will compete against TTC 1946 Weinheim on June 27, 2025. This is an additional challenge after the team defeated Kolbermoor in the quarter -finals. Nina Mittelham, who was not operational due to injuries in the first leg, hopes to be able to return in good time and could therefore significantly strengthen the team dynamics.

Overall, the TTC Berlin Eastside has a young and talented team from which players such as Mia Griesel and Josi Neumann show outstanding achievements. The goal remains clear: to win both the Champions League and the German Championship, which the club is aiming for with a lot of work and commitment.

Further information on the games and the team are available on the official pages of the TTC Berlin Eastside and the Tischtennis.de portal. The success of the women's team is not only a sign of strength and teamwork, but also for growth and promotion of women's sports in Germany.
