Altranft celebrates 650 years of tradition at the big harvest festival in September!
The tranquil Altranft, a district of Bad Freienwalde, is preparing intensively for a big double anniversary. On September 20th and 21st, 2025, the 20th Brandenburg Village and Harvest Festival will be celebrated here, which also celebrates Altranft's 650th birthday. The anticipation in the community is palpable and planning is in full swing. How Moz.de reported, the main events take place on the village green between the castle and the church, with a colorful program that delights both young and older visitors.
Preparing for the festival is a communal affair. Event manager Martin Koschnitzki coordinates the various activities in close cooperation with local clubs, including the band “Lothar and the Machines” and numerous groups from the village community. “We have a good knack for organization,” explains Koschnitzki. The festival weekend will open on September 20th with a solemn service led by regional bishop Christian Stäblein at 9:40 a.m.
Festival program and attractions
A highlight of the festival will be the traditional harvest parade, which impressively showcases the importance of agriculture and village life. The supporting program offers numerous attractions: In addition to sporting competitions such as dumper races, football and tennis tournaments and dog sports shows, a children's program is also planned in the park with theater, artistry and a participatory circus. Visitors can look forward to a concert by the band “Die Zunft” on the evening before the festival, September 19th. Prime Minister Dietmar Woidke and Agriculture Minister Hanka Mittelstädt also decided to take part in the festivities on September 20th at 11:45 a.m.
Bad Freienwalde.de highlights that locals are also looking forward to the Harvest Crown Competition, which is traditionally presented as part of the festival. Registration for this runs until August 29, 2025. The numerous exhibitors include regional businesses and farmers who will present their products and services. The market offering on the village green will primarily revolve around regional food and drinks and invites you to discover the region's culinary delicacies.
A look into history
What many people don't know: Altranft was already mentioned in a document in 1375. The village community is known for its lively culture and the large number of clubs that contribute to the success of the festival. How Brandenburg.de highlights, the presentation of the festival program is traditionally presented in January at the Green Week in Berlin, which underlines the importance of the event in the region.
Preparations have already gained momentum in the last few weeks and diligent planning and organization is taking place everywhere. The prospect of such a festival makes the hearts of Alttranfters beat faster. A festival that brings farmers, craftsmen and the entire village community together – that is the goal. And so Altranft will be in a party mood from September 19th to 21st, 2025 - a real highlight for everyone who appreciates country life and wants to experience village hospitality.
