Blue light meeting Barnim 2025: Rescue workers inspire families!

On September 27, 2025, the 2nd blue light meeting Barnim took place on the grounds of the Aviation Museum in Finowfurt - a real spectacle for the whole family. The volunteer fire brigades, aid organizations, police, emergency services and even the Bundeswehr were on site to give visitors an insight into their exciting work. How Barnim Current reported, the organizers - the fire brigade support association Florian Finowfurt in cooperation with the district of Barnim and numerous volunteers - had worked out a program that even exceeded the highlights of the previous year.

The day started at 10:30 a.m. with a colorful range of actions and ideas. The participating organizations, including the fire brigade of the Barnim district, the Johanniter accident aid, the German Red Cross (DRK) and the Technical Relief Agency (THW), presented their vehicles, which ranged from modern rescue and fire engines to historical American police cars and helicopters. Among other things, the visitor magnet was the “strongest savior” competition - part of the program in which the locomotion and speed of the emergency services were displayed.

Competitions and honors

In an exciting competition, the volunteers not only demonstrated their skills in the wet firefighting attack. The Eichhorst fire brigade secured second place, followed by the Schorfheid women, who took seventh place, and the Lichterfeld fire brigade, who received ninth place. A highlight was the honoring of Sanna Kannewurf from Eichhorst, who was named “strongest rescuer”. This made it clear how important such commitment is and how well the regional fire brigade teams harmonize in teamwork.

Brandenburg's interior minister René Wilke, who was not only impressed by the high commitment of the volunteer, was particularly in the spotlight, but also assured that the financing of such events can be secured in the future. "I think we can do it," he said, encouraging those present to continue to work for the security of the citizens.

Volunteering and social responsibility

On the occasion of this event, the importance of volunteering is also pointed out in the wider public. A study by the Federal Office for Population Protection and disaster relief shows that around 1.76 million volunteers aged 18 and over in civil and disaster protection are active in Germany. However, little more than a third of the operational organizations stated that they have sufficient members to meet the current requirements. Especially against the background of the increasing requirements of climate change, there is still a need for optimization, such as BBK highlights.

These challenges require an opening of the volunteer for underrepresented groups and better reconciliation of volunteering and work. Planned support from government funds could significantly help to provide the necessary resources for the organizations.

In summary, it can be said that the 2nd blue light meeting Barnim is not only a sign of solidarity and commitment in the region, but also offers a platform to celebrate the value of volunteers in our everyday life. For the organizers and participants, it was a family reunion that combined the training character with a touch of fun and action. A big thank you to everyone involved!

As on the website of the Aviation Museum to read there were numerous regional fire brigades and organizations. The entire event is an excellent way to make the services in the field of fire and disaster protection tangible and tangible.
