On Sunday afternoon, June 15, 2025, a harmless walk at Schwärzesee in Eberswalde almost turned into a large-scale operation by police, fire departments and rescue workers. A mother reported that she and her three-year-old child were missing at 4:45 p.m. Fortunately, the Barnim police station was able to give the all-clear just a few minutes later, at 4:53 p.m.: Both were found safe and sound.
As moz.de reports, numerous resources were mobilized to find the two. In addition to the police, the Eberswalde professional fire department and an ambulance were also on duty, although they did not have to take action. What was particularly worrying was that the Britz Volunteer Fire Department was even prepared to fly over the forest around the Schwärzesee using a drone. This incident illustrates how quickly a harmless situation can develop into a serious problem.
Alarming missing person cases in the region
