Renovation start in Birkholz: New roads for 250,000 euros by October
There are currently major changes on the streets in Birkholz that are noticeable for all residents. How Barnim Current reported, the starting signal for expanded street maintenance was given on Thursday, August 7th. The specific focus is on the Neubauernsiedlung street, but renovation work is also on the agenda in the districts of Ladeburg and the Puschkinviertel.
The measures include milling away the old, worn asphalt surface over a total of around 1.1 kilometers. The road is then given a new surface layer. In addition, the shoulders, i.e. the edges of the road, will be restored and new depressions may be created for drainage. The city of Bernau announces that the work will last until October 2, 2025 and is estimated to cost around 250,000 euros.
Important details about the construction project
The Berger Bau company from Werneuchen is carrying out the work. In a particular aspect of these measures, residents must be aware that they will only be able to access their properties on foot during construction. But don't worry: emergency vehicles have access to the construction site areas at all times, ensuring quick help in an emergency. This is particularly important to guarantee a secure connection in the event of unforeseen events in the neighborhood, such as Bernau Live points out.
The difference to fundamental road expansion projects lies in the necessary contribution obligation for property owners, which does not exist here. This makes the measures less burdensome for residents, which is certainly a good reason to look forward to better road conditions soon.
A view of the adjacent streets
In addition to the new farmers' settlement, Otto-Schmidt-Strasse in Ladeburg and Praetoriusstrasse in the Puschkinviertel are also being renovated. This is part of a comprehensive approach to improving transport infrastructure in the city, which will certainly be welcomed by residents. Such measures are essential, especially at a time when road safety is becoming increasingly important.
Residents can therefore look forward to the changes - and that once the work is completed, the streets will be a real pleasure to drive on again. Anyone who has had to rely on impassable paths will soon be taught otherwise!
