A look at rope skipping
Rope skipping, often referred to as acrobatic rope jumping, originated in America in the 1970s and is now a fixture in schools and competitive sports. The sport promotes a variety of skills: speed, coordination, stamina, rhythm and strength. In many sports, such as basketball or boxing, rope skipping is used to make athletes better.
Associations such as the World Jump Rope Federation (WJR) are campaigning for rope skipping to be included in the Olympic disciplines. These conversations are already underway because the sport is not only more individual, but also very creative and dynamic. Competitions take place in both team and individual competitions and include numerous disciplines, from speed to freestyles. A wide variety of ropes are used, including those made from different materials.
Raya and Carlotta are well on their way to not only inspiring the fans in Brandenburg, but also shining on the international stage. With their great ambition and the support of their club, they have everything it takes to be at the top of the rope skipping community.
