Kiju in Hohenstücken on the brink of extinction: City plans to move and renovate!

The concerns about the Kiju children and youth center in Hohenstücken are palpable. At its current location on Willibald-Alexis-Straße, the center fears for its existence, as the urgently needed renovation work on the premises could cause horrendous costs. The city administration suggests examining an old daycare center as a possible new location for the Kiju. Over the last 30 years, Kiju has set up numerous groups and offers for children and young people, which makes the loss particularly painful. The Humanist Regional Association also plans to take over the property on a leasehold basis. The center will celebrate its 30th anniversary next Thursday, so it could be a bittersweet occasion.

There is, however, a ray of hope in the football world: FC Borussia Brandenburg has confidently secured the championship title in the Havelland football district! With a clear 3-0 win over Fortuna Babelsberg II, the club will be promoted to the national class. After the game, coach Felix Klepzig was enthusiastic about his team's performance and praised the opponent's sporting greatness. The celebrations are already being planned, together with Fortuna II and Borussia's runner-up, who also achieved promotion.

Dragon Boat World Championship in full swing

While sporting successes are celebrated at home, athletes from Brandenburg are active on an international stage. The couple Sandra and Marko Kufliske from Rathenow have been nominated for the German national team at the Dragon Boat World Championships, which will take place from July 14th to 20th in Brandenburg an der Havel. Around 4,600 participants from 33 countries are expected. For the couple, the passion for dragon boating has more than just sporting dimensions: Marko proposed to Sandra during a trip!

Last week the athletes traveled to Račice in the Czech Republic, where the competitions took place. The final training sessions were completed before the first races began on Thursday. The competition didn't take long to arrive; Athletes from Asia, Canada and Europe made the championships very exciting. The Brandenburg teams showed impressive performances: Overall, they won 5x GOLD, 7x SILVER and 3x BRONZE in various categories. The 20's Senior women's boat particularly stood out, winning GOLD twice, while the 10's 40+ men's boat captured one of their medals.

With e-charging stations, heat pumps and integrated smart home systems, investors are focusing on sustainability and a modern quality of life. The foundation for a charging infrastructure has already been laid, although there are currently only two public e-charging stations in Borkheide. However, more are to follow, as the city of Brück, which is planning to build such infrastructure, also knows this.
