Union Berlin triumphs 5-0 – Burke celebrates his first goal!

On Sunday afternoon, 1. FC Union Berlin won its second test match in preparation for the coming season with a confident 5-0 win against sixth division club SV Grün-Weiss Ahrensfelde. How Berlin newspaper reported, the game took place in the Jahnsportstätte in front of around 3,500 spectators, who were able to enjoy a positive atmosphere in significantly better weather than the day before. Coach Steffen Baumgart took the opportunity to give some more experienced players, including Rani Khedira and András Schäfer, a break.

The game started quickly: Marin Ljubicic took the lead in the first minute, helped by a mistake by Ahrensfeld goalkeeper Sven Reimann. A short time later, László Bénes made it 2-0 in the 20th minute with a remarkable long-range shot. New signing Matheo Raab guarded the goal and was able to handle the defensive tasks well while the team played in a 3-5-2 system in the first half.

Fine goals and new jerseys

Numerous players were used in the second half. Among them were some U-19 players, such as Suheib-Elias Ali, who made it 3-0 immediately after the restart in the 47th minute. It was an impressive performance from the entire team, which impressively showed that they are in good shape. Janik Haberer finally contributed to the clear result with another goal in the 73rd minute, before Oliver Burke scored his first goal for Union Berlin in the 76th minute, making the final score 5-0.

The team formation, which brought together both experienced and young players, was helpful for the victory. Towards the end of the first half, Livan Burcu had to be substituted as a precaution after a challenge and was replaced by Haberer.
