DFB youth league 2025/26: Teams & groups at a glance!

There is great anticipation for the new season in the DFB youth leagues, as the densely packed league starts its second edition in August 2025. The U19 and U17 juniors are once again fighting for the best placement in the newly structured league, which begins with an exciting preliminary round, followed by the main and final rounds from the round of 16 onwards. The German Football Association (DFB) announced this in a statement, as has already been the case Hertha BSC reported.

A total of 65 clubs take part in the U19, 59 of which have a performance center. These teams are divided into nine groups, with only the top two in each group and the best six third-place teams making it to League A. Group C includes some well-known names such as 1. FC Magdeburg, FC Erzgebirge Aue and SG Dynamo Dresden. At the same time, the U17 is competing with 63 clubs, also divided into eight groups. Here the best three teams qualify for League A, while places four to eight have to fight on in League B.

Group overview for the U19 and U17

Let's take a look at the exciting group divisions:

U19 Group C
1. FC Magdeburg
1. FC Union Berlin
Berlin AK
Chemnitz FC
FC Energie Cottbus
FC Erzgebirge Aue
SG Dynamo Dresden
U17 Group C
Chemnitz FC
FC Carl Zeiss Jena
FC Energie Cottbus
FC Erzgebirge Aue
FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt

The DFB youth organization has made every effort to divide the groups in a balanced manner in order to create fair conditions for all teams. Geographical considerations play a role in this, with the aim of avoiding long journeys. The matches from the previous season should also not be repeated, which increases the excitement and promises fresh challenges.

Live broadcasts on television and online

There is good news for all football fans: the U19 and U17 games will be played exclusively by Sky Sports broadcast live. From August onwards, viewers can look forward to around 70 games per season, which are available free of charge on skysport.de, the Sky Sport app and via YouTube and TikTok. This cooperation between the DFB and Sky ensures more visibility for youth football and a breath of fresh air in the broadcasts. The U19 season also starts from August 3, 2024, followed by the U17 on August 10, 2024.

With all of these exciting developments, supporters can look forward to a thrilling year of football. The DFB youth league promises not only exciting games, but also the opportunity to watch young talents on their way to becoming professional footballers.
