Energie Cottbus: Dark comeback in the friendly against Altglienicke!

FC Energie Cottbus won an exciting test match against VSG Altglienicke 4-2 on July 4, 2025. The game took place at the SV Dissenchen sports facility and it was exciting because the score was still 1-1 at halftime. Erik Tallig scored the equalizer in the 35th minute and set the course for the second half, in which the Cottbus team really turned up the heat.

In an impressive phase, the Lausitz team scored three goals within six minutes. Justin Butler opened the scoring in the 52nd minute, followed by Theo Ogbidi in the 55th and Erik Engelhardt, who increased the score to 4-1 in the 58th minute. Despite conceding a late goal in the 79th minute after Cottbus goalkeeper Elias Bethke made a mistake, victory was never in danger.

Preparation and promising new arrivals

Cottbus started this test match with an interesting line-up that included some new additions and trial players. The coach had a good hand and made the team perform well, with control of the game clearly visible after the early goals in the second half. With Elias Bethke in goal and the new additions Nyamekye Awortwie-Grant, Lukas Michelbrink, Ted Tattermusch, Finn Heidrich and Leon Guwara in the starting line-up, the team appeared to be well prepared for the challenges ahead.

The test match was of great interest not only to the players but also to the fans. Anyone who couldn't make it to the stadium had the opportunity to watch the game for free in the live stream on the YouTube channel "Energie-TV", while the Lausitzer Rundschau provided a live ticker for the game. This shows the growing interest in Energie Cottbus, especially with regard to the start of the season.

Jump into the league

The new season begins for Energie Cottbus on August 2nd or 3rd, 2025 with a long-awaited duel against 1. FC Saarbrücken. This game will be a first tough test in the 3rd league. There are more test games on the program in the coming weeks, including against TSG Neustrelitz on July 5th, Eintracht Mahlsdorf on July 8th and Greifswalder FC on July 9th. The preparation phase already shows that the team is accurate and flexible.

The test match results so far support these positive developments. Cottbus scored a total of 59 goals in three friendly matches in June – impressive performances that leave you wanting more. With a clear 25:0 against Wacker Schönwalde and further big victories against SpVgg Finsterwalde (26:0) as well as an 8:0 against Blau-Weiß Wittichenau, the squad impressively showed that it is ready for the challenges of the coming season.

Cottbus is heading into the near future stronger. The next game against TSG Neustrelitz will show where the journey is headed. Whether the team can carry on their momentum remains to be seen. An exciting year awaits!
