Fairy tale magic in the Brandenburg Theater: Finale of the Undine competition!

Next Sunday, June 15, 2025, a magical fairy tale festival is sparkling in the Brandenburg Theater. The event begins at 11:00 a.m. and awaits visitors: inside with a lively fairy tale matinee in the BT studio stage. The best stories of the 20th "Undine" competition are presented here, which is organized by the city of Brandenburg an der Havel in cooperation with the Fouque library. A great highlight for the small and big fairy tale friends!

A total of 234 submitted fairy tales of students and young authors were among the high -flyers in the competition. An experienced jury, chaired by Thomas Bartel, rated the works received and selected the ten award winners on May 23. Of these, 14 stories have been classified as particularly worth price. Among the excellent stories include "The three sisters and the tasks of the swamp witch" by Mavie Eckert from the 5A of the Luckenberger School and "The Waterstein" by Maximilian Seidler, who is just 10 years old.

The varied award ceremony

The award ceremony is designed exciting and varied. In addition to the announcement of the award winners, it is primarily the performances of the Brandenburg Youth Theater that bring the winning fairy tales to the stage. The event promises a musical accompaniment of pupils from the music school "Vicco von Bülow", which will enrich the program visually and acoustically. Cornelia Stabrodt from the Fouque Library and Thomas Messerschmidt, the city press officer, moderate the event.

The main prize is waiting for the young authors, the Undine statuette designed by Jan Beumelburg. There are also four main prizes and six special prices, each with prize money of 150 euros, which are presented by 14 sponsors from the region. It is a great opportunity for 7 to 25 year olds to show their creative potential and enrich the fairytale world.

committed initiatives for children

Not only at the Undine competition, the young talents are offered a stage. Another remarkable initiative is "A book goes around the world", which was launched by the paper eating MTM publishing house. This initiative aims to network children worldwide and motivate them to write. Publisher Martina Meier MA has worked in reading promotion for over 20 years and has organized numerous writing competitions for children who are now attracting international participants.
