Fairytale magic in Brandenburg: The winners of the 21st Undine have been chosen!

On Sunday the 21st “Undine” was celebrated in the Brandenburg Theater, a lively competition that invites young talent to write new fairy tales. The event was well attended and offered the audience not only the presentation of stories, but also impressive visual works of art. A total of ten outstanding contributions that reflect the imagination of the young artists were honored. As stadt-brandenburg.de reports, this happened as part of a festive 90-minute fairy tale matinee.

Back in March, the jurors led by the artist Thomas Bartel had awarded 14 works for main or special prizes out of the 234 fairy tales submitted. Bartel encouraged the participants and expressed excitement about the creativity that emerged from the competition. Mayor Steffen Scheller also emphasized the importance of this event for the city of Brandenburg an der Havel and the promotion of young talent.

Prize winners and their works

The competition's most popular fairy tales were particularly in focus: “The Pearl Shrub” by Mina Teubner and “The Water Stone” by Maximilian Seidler. The winners of the fairy tale “The Water Stone” are impressive talents aged 11 to 12: Ava Luke, Carl Handorf and Sara Damwerth. Bianca Gonzalés, Ida van de Kamp and Paul Richter received awards for “The Pearl Shrub”. Emely Hinze was also honored with a special prize for her fairy tale “The Three Brothers and the Clock of Knowledge,” which she designed together with her sister Meggy.

The event ended with a group photo of all award winners and award sponsors, symbolizing the sense of community and support in the art scene. The “Vicco von Bülow” music school set special musical accents, providing additional entertainment during the matinee, as was described at the last awards ceremony for the 20th Undine brandenburg-live.com.

Outlook for future competitions

The good news for all fairy tale lovers: The next competition for new fairy tales will be announced at Christmas time. In this way, the publisher and the organization behind the Undine tradition remain true to their roots. Since the competition was founded in 2005 by the Fouqué Library and BRAWO, over 4,000 fairy tales and 5,000 works of art have been produced, and the number continues to increase every year. This initiative not only promotes creative thinking, but also provides valuable insights into the lives of young people kunsthaus-michel.de.

With a look at the big themes of our time such as friendship, courage and the solutions to current problems, it becomes clear that today's fairy tales are not only intended to entertain, but also to make you think. And so we can only hope that storytellers big and small will also have a good hand at the 22nd Undine next year.
