Bundeswehr convoy rolls through Zeuthen: traffic disruptions are imminent!

Things will be a little livelier in and around Königs Wusterhausen and Zeuthen in the coming weeks, as the Bundeswehr has announced large-scale exercises. On November 17, 2025, a convoy with 43 vehicles and 245 members of the armed forces will drive through Zeuthen. This exercise is not just routine, but part of ongoing military preparation, which has taken on even greater importance since the Russian invasion of Ukraine Tagesschau reports.

The convoy's route will include Fontaneallee, Lindenallee, Goethestrasse and Seestrasse, among others. There may be traffic restrictions along the L401 during the exercise. Residents should therefore prepare for an increased military presence and possibly longer waiting times. It is important to emphasize that the vehicles are only traveling at cruising speed and there is no danger - this is an exercise that is properly coordinated, how Moz.de reports.

Additional exercises in the region

At the same time, another exercise will take place in nearby Rüdersdorf from November 17th to 21st, where 250 soldiers and 50 vehicles will train in a scenario for urban urban warfare and property protection. Here too, a police helicopter will be used to secure the exercise. It is still unclear whether there is a connection between the two exercises in Zeuthen and Rüdersdorf.

The decision to conduct such exercises comes in the context of a significantly increased activity by NATO countries. Germany is intended to serve as a key location for troop deployments, particularly on NATO's eastern flank. This underlines the turning point in security policy that Germany is experiencing and the need to be able to react quickly and efficiently in an emergency Defense Network explains.

The current exercise is part of a comprehensive plan called Quadriga 2025, which not only focuses on land operations but also integrates maritime and airborne dimensions. The focus on efficient logistical support and increasing operational readiness are goals that are particularly important in this exercise.

The Bundeswehr will continue to hold such exercises regularly in order to be optimally prepared for potential threats and to strengthen cooperation with international partners. The relocation of troops and material plays a central role, because this is the only way Germany can function as a hub in an emergency.

It will therefore be exciting to see how the situation surrounding the Bundeswehr exercises will develop in the coming weeks. Residents are well advised to prepare for the traffic impacts and observe the exercises with a keen eye.
