Hunting licenses without examination? DJV warns of online fraud!

Lately, dubious offers have been appearing on the Internet that promise to buy hunting licenses without the necessary verification. On platforms like Instagram, an account with the name “Buy a hunting license without an exam” is actually advertised, which offers buyers the prospect of a registered hunting license in Germany without any learning effort. This has prompted the German Hunting Association (DJV) to issue a clear warning and take legal action against these providers. Maz-online reports that such offers are not only dubious, but also take money out of potential buyers' pockets without them having a real hunting license in their hands.

The requirements for acquiring a hunting license are strict: Passing the state hunting test and legal reliability in the form of a perfect police clearance certificate are essential. The exams consist of written, oral and practical parts that cover wildlife biology, weapons knowledge and legal aspects. In addition, experts report that around 23 percent of examinees failed in 2024 - a sign of the challenge that comes with this training. Jagdverband.de warns that only the relevant authorities are allowed to issue hunting licenses and appeals to the public to report these fraud attempts to the police.

Fraudulent scams and their dangers

It is worth noting that such scams are not new. Profiles are active on social networks such as Instagram that boast alleged customer experiences in order to suggest seriousness. Buyers of such offers usually come away empty-handed and ultimately lose their money. The DJV and Kai Hamann, managing director of the Brandenburg State Hunting Association, report similar cases, not only in hunting, but also with fishing licenses and other licenses. Pirsch.de points this out That those interested should find out more about the serious processes at hunting schools or hunting associations.

The legal consequences for using fake hunting licenses are serious. In Germany, the use of such forged documents can result in penalties of up to five years in prison or high fines. In particularly serious cases, prison sentences of up to ten years can be imposed. There are currently around 13,000 hunting license holders in Brandenburg, including around 1,000 in Oberhavel. These numbers are constantly increasing and show that interest in hunting is increasing in Germany.

In order to ensure that the acquisition of a hunting license is completely legal, those interested should better contact official authorities. The requirements are high, but they serve to protect nature and society. Ultimately, anyone who falls for the bargain offers not only gets themselves into trouble, but also endangers the reputation and integrity of the hunting culture.
