Oberhavel Kliniken: Wiebke Gröper brings a breath of fresh air to the team!
What is happening in the healthcare landscape in Oranienburg? Wiebke Gröper took over management of the Oberhavel Kliniken on July 1, 2023 and is not alone in this position: Dr. Detlef Troppens. Cross-functional collaboration is not exactly the first thing that comes to mind when Gröper thinks about her new role. As the former director of the Sana Kliniken Sommerfeld and with extensive experience in health management, she brings fresh ideas to the clinic structure.
The 40-year-old came to Oberhavel Kliniken in February 2023, where she acted as administrative manager and authorized signatory. After Dorothea Mantei's planned retirement in May 2023, Gröper now also took over the management level. Over the last two years, she has immersed herself in all areas of the company, which helps her take the needs of both patients and employees into account. “Heading a hospital administration is a big challenge, but I see it as an exciting task,” says Gröper.
Focus on digitalization and improvement
The challenges facing the healthcare system are diverse. Hospital reform is imminent and digitalization must be pushed forward. Digital solutions are essential to increase the flow of information and efficiency. According to a report by bpb, modern digital health applications are on the rise in Germany and are increasingly perceived as indispensable components of patient care. Gröper plans to convert the Oberhavel clinics both structurally and professionally. She would like to digitize processes so that the staff is relieved and can focus on what is important: patient care.
“We now have to set the course to transform the Oberhavel Kliniken into an attractive employer,” she emphasizes. Her predecessor Mantei was already on the right track with some preparations and Gröper plans to continue this consistently.
Support from politics
The new wind in clinic administration is also welcomed by the political side. Alexander Tönnies, the district administrator of Oberhavel, is pleased about the reinforcement from Gröper. He highlights the measures that have already been taken to best prepare the clinics for the challenges ahead. Both managing directors support the goal of ensuring technically sound and modern healthcare in Oranienburg.
Overall, Gröper's commitment promises an exciting development for the Oberhavel Kliniken and its approximately 2,000 employees. Impending bottlenecks in the healthcare system, which could be exacerbated by digitalization, should be brought under control thanks to intelligent initiatives. The findings of bpb show that these steps are urgently needed to meet increasing demand. It will be interesting to see what noticeable changes Gröper will initiate in the next few years.
