Oranienburg celebrates: city festival attracts with dragon boat races and concerts!

In Oranienburg, the big city festival began last Friday, June 20, 2025, with a colorful program that brought the city center to life. Mayor Alexander Laesicke opened the festival at 4 p.m. with a heartfelt speech and got the visitors in the mood for the coming days. Shortly after the opening, a children's and women's ensemble on the Schlossplatz ensured that the atmosphere was really high. Just a few minutes later, the first visitors, including young friends Elisa and Michelle, flocked to the rides in the parking lot.

The two girls immediately tried the chain plane, which shot up to a height of 40 meters, and couldn't help but be amazed. They couldn't wait to experience the exciting ride on the breakdancer. The “adrenaline” device was particularly popular, where Alend and Zaid from Lehnitz competed for points in punching. Alend won with 697 points, but the excitement of the competition was hard to beat.

A celebration for the whole family

But the city festival had much more to offer. Parallel to the rides, the dragon boat races started on the Havel in the morning, which took place over all three days of the festival and were watched with excitement by the numerous spectators. The Oranienburg Water Sports Center organized the races, in which participants competed against each other in various categories. Registrations for the dragon boat race were possible until race day, so that even those who made a last-minute decision had the chance to take part.

There was a wide children's program for the younger guests, which also provided a lot of fun. On Saturday, June 21st, the popular “Fête de la Musique” and the Blue Light Day also took place in the technology and training center, which made the festival even more varied. In the evening you could look forward to the anniversary band Keimzeit, whose performance provided an atmospheric highlight, followed by an impressive laser show that bathed the castle in a colorful sea of colors around midnight.

Culinary and more

The culinary offering also left nothing to be desired. A fairground opposite the castle attracted visitors with rides for all ages and numerous food stalls offering delicacies from all over the world. Admission to the festival was free, which made it easier for families and friends to spend an unforgettable day together. The opening times were generous, so that visitors could enjoy the festival from 2 p.m. to midnight on Friday and into the night on the other days.

The city festival not only offers a great program, but also a safe environment. Security measures included fenced areas, controlled entrances and bag checks to ensure everyone's peace of mind. The palace square became the center of events, where visitors celebrated together and enjoyed the atmosphere.

If you have the opportunity, you should mark your calendar for the next few days, because the city festival in Oranienburg runs until June 22nd and will be an experience that you won't quickly forget. The Berlin Magazine reports on further program items, while the platform Oranienburg Erleben offers additional information about the performances. So nothing stands in the way of an unforgettable city festival weekend!
