Exciting news for all sports fans in the region: After a year-long break, the Oberhavel Hallenmasters will take place in Oranienburg on January 10, 2026. The event, which has now become a fixture in the calendar of local sporting events, is now in its 24th edition. Eight top-class teams from the district will fight for the title, and the anticipation is already palpable. Maz online reports that the draw for the groups will take place on December 3rd at the municipal utility premises.
But there is also less good news: ticket prices have been increased and are now reaching a new high. If you want to secure a normal ticket, you have to shell out 16 euros for it, while you'll spend 14 euros for a reduced ticket. For comparison: in the last edition in January 2024, the prices were 12 euros and 10 euros respectively. And even further back, before the Corona-related break, it was only a bargain at 8 euros for normal tickets and 6 euros for reduced ones. On the one hand, the price increase is due to increased security requirements, which cost 2,000 euros. On the other hand, due to these requirements, the first row of seats has to be removed, which reduces the number of tickets available.
The background to the price increase
The increase in ticket prices is not without reason. The last edition in 2024 had at least 1,158 spectators, but last year the event had to be canceled at short notice due to inadequate escape and rescue routes in the fire protection concept. In order to eliminate these deficiencies, a building permit procedure was necessary. Stadtservice Oranienburg GmbH and the OFC have invested in the planning and renovation costs to ensure a safe and successful future for the Hallenmaster.
The questions surrounding the determination of the value of the event are not insignificant. After all, it's not just about ticket prices.
