Drunk chocolate thief in Vetschau: Police strike!

The police in Vetschau had their hands full on Monday evening when they put a chocolate thief who was apparently very drunk in his place. According to a report by Niederlausitz Aktuell Niederlausitz Aktuell, a 27-year-old stole several bars of chocolate from the supermarket on Kleine Bahnhofstrasse. He not only let himself be guided by the counter, but also didn't shy away from threatening the sales staff. After the coup, the man quickly ran away, but the police didn't let him escape for long.

After the emergency services were alerted, they were quickly able to locate the suspect in the vicinity of the supermarket. A breath alcohol test produced a remarkable result: over 1.9 per mille. There are now several cases underway against the chocolate thief, not only for theft but also for threatening staff.

Securing public order

But the police are not only active in Vetschau. Intensive security measures were also taken in other parts of the region. In Lindchen, the police carried out a large-scale traffic control to ensure traffic safety. This is particularly important because there was also an accident in Lübbenau in which a VW had to avoid an oncoming vehicle. The collision with a traffic sign caused estimated damage of around 10,000 euros, but luckily there were no injuries. However, the driver of the other vehicle did not show up and left the scene of the accident without permission.

The challenges in road traffic are also evident in Schipkau. There were two traffic accidents on Monday. At 12:30 p.m. two VW cars collided on Meuroer Straße, causing property damage of around 300 euros. The driver of a “Golf” had a blood alcohol level of over 1, which resulted in a blood sample and criminal proceedings. There was another accident in the evening when a Ford driver had to avoid an IVECO van and collided with a guide post, resulting in property damage of around 2,000 euros. Here too, a breath alcohol test was necessary; in the case of the 73-year-old van driver, it showed a blood alcohol level of 0.49.

Online reporting options

At a time when security issues and measures are becoming increasingly important, the police offer an easy way to report crimes online. Various categories of crimes, such as fraud, theft and damage to property, can be reported on the police website Polizei Onlinewache. This measure not only ensures a quicker response to offenses, but also conserves local resources.

Data protection regulations are also guaranteed: the data is transmitted in encrypted form. In addition, the IP address is stored to identify improper use, which provides additional security for those reporting.

Overall, these incidents and actions demonstrate the importance of being vigilant both in road safety and in combating crime. The police remain a crucial partner for citizens in creating a safe environment.
