Register now: Next fishing test in OSL on August 12th!
In charming Brandenburg, where picturesque lakes and bubbling streams characterize the landscape, the fishing season is just around the corner. If you want to fish for predatory fish in the region, you need a fishing license. This is issued after successfully passing the fishing test. The next opportunity to take this important exam awaits those interested on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at the Oberspreewald-Lausitz District Office in Calau (Joachim-Gottschalk-Str. 36). The exams start at 9:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to ensure there is plenty of scope for everyone who wants to put their skills to the test.
But be careful: The registration deadline is July 20, 2025, and the number of participants per exam is limited to a maximum of 25 people. For the exam, candidates must have a good grasp of fish science, as they have to answer 60 questions. These questions cover topics such as the care of fishing waters, proper fishing gear and how to handle caught fish. Legal aspects such as animal welfare, water and nature conservation regulations are also examined in order to provide comprehensive knowledge.
Preparation and exam
In order to be prepared for the angler test, the Brandenburg Ministry of Agriculture, Environment and Climate Protection offers a useful web platform. On this website you will not only find the exam content, but also an online test that is very suitable for preparation. If you answer at least 45 questions correctly and pass half of the questions in each test area, you have the chance to get a fishing license - for which you can apply on the same day after passing the test.
The examination fee is 25 euros, including the issuing of the certificate. Interested parties not only need a completed application for admission, but also have to provide proof of the examination fee. Young people under 18 also need the written consent of their parents or legal representatives. To apply for a fishing license, you must also submit a valid passport photo and a certificate of passing the fishing test.
Fishing in Brandenburg
Fishing in Brandenburg is enjoying growing popularity, especially in view of the attractive fish stocks. While fishing for predatory fish requires a fishing license, coarse fishing does not require a license, which is a good opportunity for many beginners to immerse themselves in the world of fishing. However, if you want to fish for predatory fish, you should register in good time and pay attention to the upcoming exam dates. In addition to the fishing license, a fishing permit is also required for each body of water, the costs of which vary depending on the body of water.
To do this, anglers, whether locals or tourists, must present a valid state fishing license and acquire the respective fishing permit for the water. Foreign fishing licenses are recognized if the required expertise is proven through a comparable test. Armed with this information, you can only enjoy summer by the water!
