The AfD is fielding Axel Brösicke, who was born in 1976 and looks back on a 30-year career as an industrial mechanic. He describes himself as a martial artist and motorcyclist, while owning 13 hectares of forest and maintaining a clear connection with nature.

Birgit Patz, an art and mathematics teacher, has already made a name for herself as a city councilor and is supported by the Left and the Greens. Steffen Tepper and Julia Zureck are largely unknown in the political arena, with Tepper working as a team leader in the city administration's security center, while Zureck works as an entrepreneur and real estate agent.

Election procedure and possible runoff elections

To win in the first round, a candidate needs more than 50% of the vote. If none of the applicants succeed, there will be a runoff election between the first and second place winners on November 23rd, which can be followed live.
