Barnim Cup: Young motocross thrills in Werneuchen!

On Saturday, October 25, 2025, the Barnim Cup in motocross took place on the popular “Bernauer Loop” race track in Werneuchen. This competition marked the end of the season for numerous young, amateur and professional drivers from Brandenburg. Despite the autumnal temperatures, the event was well attended and created an exuberant atmosphere. The organizer, Dirk Stannek, who has been active in motocross for 43 years, was extremely satisfied with the number of participants and spectators. Stannek praised the challenging route and noted that motocross is a great escape and a kind of relaxation for many, although the stress associated with it should not be underestimated. The race track itself has become more popular in recent years and is attracting more and more young members, as the Bernauer Loop reports.

During the races, the drivers not only showed their skills, but also their enthusiasm for the sport. An outstanding example is ten-year-old Matilda Jani from Wandlitz, who has been in the saddle since she was five. She competed in the Berlin-Brandenburg state championship and achieved sixth place as the fastest girl. Matilda's goal is to place well at the World Championships, which requires regular training and competitions. Her family supports her actively: her father, Sven, takes care of the mechanics, while her mother ensures her physical well-being and her sisters devote themselves to driving.

Risks and challenges in motocross

The challenge in motocross isn't just about skill and speed; The drivers also have to be physically fit and have a fair amount of courage. Participants report that the physical demands are high and that injuries, such as the broken wrist of eleven-year-old Niklas from Beerfelde, are among the risks. Such incidents make it clear that both sporting competition and safety must be the top priority for drivers.

The Barnim Cup is not only a popular event for active people, but also helps to promote young talent. As the ADAC Stiftung Sport reports, talents such as Pascal Wehrlein and Simon Längenfelder, for example, have created a network with their “Motorsport Team Germany” initiative that supports young drivers between the ages of 12 and 22 and promotes the promotion of various motorsport disciplines. These programs not only provide financial support, but also training in areas such as automotive technology and nutrition.

The club structure of the Bernauer Loop is aimed at supporting and promoting young members. The club, founded in 1958, not only organizes races, but also initiated the construction of a training area in Schönfeld near Beiersdorf Freudenberg for motocross and enduro. This commitment shows how serious those responsible are in supporting the next generation of motorsport athletes and creating a family atmosphere in which everyone can feel comfortable.

The Barnim Cup remains a highlight of the season and offers both drivers and spectators the opportunity to immerse themselves in the exciting world of motocross. With a solid organization and the support of the club as well as the commitment of the families, the future of motorsport in the region will continue to be bright.
