Noise protection program at BER ends: residents on alert!
In a crucial phase for residents of BER Airport, the noise protection program comes to an end on Tuesday after around 20 years. The final deadline to submit applications for this Major Support Program is November 4, 2025, with 14 percent of eligible households still not having applied for support. The program covers an extensive area of around 155 square kilometers, stretching from Ludwigsfelde to Gosen, and gives around 26,500 households the right to noise compensation.
By September 2025, 86 percent of eligible households have already submitted applications. Sound insulation has been successfully installed in over 5,000 households, while implementation is still pending in around 8,000 houses. Compensation was also promised for around 7,700 households. The airport company has so far invested an incredible 466 million euros in noise insulation. This makes the noise protection program one of the most extensive and expensive noise protection projects in Germany, and the first signs of nervousness among residents are now showing.
Deadline and implementation
What is particularly dramatic is the fact that hardly any applications have been received in the last two years. There have only been 102 applications so far in 2023, but there has been a notable increase since October, which has apparently sent residents into panic mode. The discrepancy between the claims notices submitted and the actual progress is unpleasant: of 22,161 applications processed, only around 23 percent resulted in actual construction work. Households that have not yet begun implementation must complete this by December 31, 2025 to secure reimbursement.
The maximum levels, which were set for living spaces back in 2004, are 55 decibels during the day, which has repeatedly caused complaints and inconvenience to residents over the past two decades. It remains to be seen how many residents will actually use the deadline to take the necessary measures.
Think carefully about what you do!
Nowadays it is also important to keep a clear head when planning and making decisions. How often are people faced with a choice: where should they go or what decisions should be made? The feeling that the world is your oyster can quickly turn into exhaustion. Do you choose “something close” or does the adventure tempt you further afield? Dialogue about what you like or would prefer not to do is very important, just as it is when planning your own soundproofing.
How communication is crucial can be seen in everyday conversations about decisions and suggestions. “Do you have any ideas?” or “What do you think?” are good introductory questions to gather initial ideas, especially when it comes to such important decisions.
Whether in private or business life – the ability to make good and quick decisions plays a central role. And when it comes to protecting intellectual property, this is supported by different strategies. Trademark rights are also important for local businesses, as unauthorized imitation is a constant threat in the digital world. The stated exchange on trademark registration trends and understanding of intellectual property rights is more important than ever and applies to all industries.
The noise protection measures at BER Airport and the associated applications are clear evidence of how important it is to act in a timely manner and to be active in the (noise protection) house rules. Plans must be well thought out and put into action in order to ultimately improve your own quality of life.
