Hope for Neuruppin: New children's clinic and construction site on B167!

There are currently some encouraging developments in the heart of Brandenburg's healthcare landscape. A ray of hope for the region is the hope of a million-dollar grant to modernize the children's clinic at Neuruppin Hospital. This was announced by Health Minister Britta Müller during her visit to the hospital. The plan is to build a new child and adolescent psychiatry unit and a socio-pediatric center, which together will cost around 20 million euros. The UKRB University Hospital is targeting funding from the federal transformation fund, although initially only three significant projects are being applied for, reports maz-online.de.

But there is news not only in the area of health. The B167 federal highway near Neuruppin is facing extensive construction work. The renewal of the roadway, which will become a construction site between Neuruppin and the A24 near Dabergotz for around nine months, will begin in spring 2026. This road is one of the busiest connections in the region and plays a crucial role for traffic. During the construction work, the road will be one-way for several months, which will mean a significant change for residents and drivers.

Construction sites and traffic measures

The construction site on the B167 also entails a diversion that leads from Herzberg via Radensleben to Neuruppin. Renovation work on a section between Herzberg (Mark) and Wulkow will begin as early as March 31, 2025, as the Brandenburg state government website reports. The road surface, shoulders and traffic signs will be renewed in three construction phases. Both level crossings on the state road and district road will also be modernized. ls.brandenburg.de also explains that the bus routes will be rerouted during the first construction phase.

While these infrastructure measures are progressing, there are also advances in healthcare. Brandenburg will receive 460 million euros from the federal government's special funds to secure and expand medical care. Health Minister Müller is committed to ensuring that the funds flow specifically to rural regions in order to ensure emergency and basic care there. The plan is to set up medical care centers (MVZ) and polyclinics that will enable close collaboration with specialists. The aim is to maintain basic care on site while at the same time enabling complex interventions in specialized clinics. The Wittstock/Dosse location in particular is seen as a central point for this health initiative. Further information can be found on the ministry's website. mgs.brandenburg.de
