Robbery on showmen in Neuruppin – police are looking for perpetrators!

A frightening incident shook the Martinimarkt in Neuruppin on the night of November 5th. As the Märkische Allgemeine Reportedly, a 30-year-old showman was attacked by two men while walking along Rudolf-Breitscheid-Strasse. The perpetrators, part of a larger group of people, demanded his cell phone and acted brutally. When the showman refused, he was beaten and ransacked several times. They took the cell phone and demanded money to return it.

In a lucky twist, the victim escaped by pretending to go get money. He then informed other showmen about the attack. Fortunately, the cell phone was later located and retrieved. Although the police took clues, the perpetrators initially remained unidentified and the showman only suffered minor injuries. The Ostprignitz-Ruppin criminal police have taken over the investigation.

Effects of the Martins market

The Martinimarkt is considered one of the highlights in Neuruppin's event calendar. Despite the brutal attack, many visitors showed up in rainy weather on Saturday, November 4th. To the delight of the organizers, the market attracted up to 15,000 visitors Blue light report OPR reported. However, there were also several incidents that the police called into action.

A total of three criminal complaints were filed on Friday evening during the market. Among other things, two men who had already been expelled received further charges of trespassing. There was also a dangerous argument between two women in which a 24-year-old was injured and contacted the police. An incident in which a 37-year-old attempted to steal a tray of candied strawberries also caused problems. The man also insulted a security guard in an inciting manner.

The security service and the police

As the market continued to operate, security ensured that such incidents were quickly brought under control. The solidarity among the showmen was visible: after the attack became known, everyone informed each other to ensure their safety. Even though the investigation is still ongoing, the police effort shows that the district and city are very concerned about safety during such events.

The incidents at the Martinimarkt also raise questions about general safety at folk festivals. It remains to be seen how the investigation will progress and what measures will be taken in the future to guarantee the safety of visitors.
