Rheinsberg votes: These four candidates are fighting for the mayor's office

In Rheinsberg the signs point to an election campaign! The mayoral election will take place on September 28, 2025, and around 6,500 eligible citizens are called upon to cast their votes. This promises an exciting political showdown, as four candidates are running to take over the office of mayor.

For the first time in the city's history, not only new faces are running in this election, but also the incumbent. Frank-Rudi Schwochow, 38 years old and incumbent, is campaigning for his re-election, although he is currently facing legal proceedings. He is accused of infidelity and slander. But the BVB/Free Voters politician is defiant and combative in his efforts to convince voters of his qualities.

The challengers

In the race for the mayor's office, the challengers should not be underestimated. Silke Peitsch, 62 years old, is an experienced candidate and a long-time member of the Zechlin village council and can look back on 25 years of political experience. As a human resources manager, she also has a good feel for personnel issues, which is important in local politics.

Lukas Schröglmann, who at 30 is the youngest of the candidates, brings a breath of fresh air to the election campaign. As a judicial officer and member of the city council since 2024, he is committed to innovative politics. His dedication and new ideas could give him an advantage.

And then there is Mario Stärck, 57 years old and active in the DGB youth training center. He has also been a member of the city council since 2024 and would like to convince people with positive approaches. His focus is on supporting young people from Rheinsberg, which could be important for many voters.

The election mode

The election takes place in regular mode. If none of the candidates receive more than 50% of the vote, there will be a runoff election on October 12, 2025, in which a simple majority will achieve the goal. The completion of the electoral process could lead to another exciting chapter in Rheinsberg's history. A total of 19 ballot boxes and 2 postal voting stations are available, staffed by around 130 volunteer poll workers to enable voters to cast their votes smoothly.

By the way, the election notifications are expected to be sent in the 35th calendar week, i.e. from August 25, 2025. This gives voters enough time to find out about the candidates and make a well-considered decision.

The interest in the mayoral election is noticeable and it's not just the political debates that promise a lot. It is also an exciting social experiment, because the voting behavior of citizens can be seen through the magnifying glass of social trends. Studies and analyzes show that voting behavior is influenced by various factors, including social stratification and economic conditions. A real election thriller is looming, and the citizens of Rheinsberg can be curious to see who will ultimately come out on top.

How the election ultimately turns out remains to be seen. What is certain, however, is that citizens are called upon to raise their voices and help determine the direction of Rheinsberg. The election posters can now be placed and the election campaign has officially begun.
