Brücker Youth Club: After 30 years of hope for a new meeting place!

Bad weather conditions in Brück no longer have to be an obstacle for young people. Finally, a youth club is being considered that would provide the community's teenagers with a place to meet. After 30 long years without a fixed meeting place, the city council is supporting this project. How maz-online.de reports, the city plans to provide a six-figure amount to address the lack of space among young people in Brück.

A centrally located location close to the train station is considered ideal to provide young people with a convenient meeting point. Edward Baitz, Pro Brück city councilor, is tirelessly committed to the project. Meanwhile, Paul Ruoff generously donated three used containers that will serve as club rooms for the young people until they are finally used. These containers are currently standing in the commercial area and are waiting to be transported to the future location.

A central meeting point for young people

The Alte Korbmacherei site is considered a possible location, but it is located outside, for which the city administration must obtain permission. This is not the only hurdle, as developing the area with water and electricity is also expected to cost 35,000 euros. Mayor Matthias Schimanowski appeals to the authorities to use the available scope to advance this urgently needed project.

An amount of 180,000 euros has already been reserved in the city budget for long-term financing in order to set up the youth club. “It is time for our young people to find a home where they can develop,” said the mayor, who expressed the hope that the containers for the young people would be put into operation quickly.

Your Place to Be: The container as a center of youth culture

The containers will not only function as club rooms, but also as a platform for creative projects and ideas from young people between the ages of 12 and 27. The Platzprojekt is planning the interior design of the container, which began in autumn 2023. The colorful design and open use of the space offer the opportunity for numerous initiatives and activities.

The aim of these initiatives is to form networks and promote exchange among young people. The doors are open to new members at any time - if you are interested, you can register directly at platz-jugend@nfj-nds.de.

In times when young people's right to have a say is becoming increasingly important, it is important to also take their voices into account in local politics. The BJR emphasizes that the inclusion of participation rights is a central task in order to strengthen the rights of children and young people and to make them heard. The project in Brück could be a first step in this direction and send a lively signal for active youth policy.

There is great hope that the plans will soon become reality and that the containers will finally become a home for the youth from Brücker - and thus create a place for encounters, creativity and community.
