CSD Bad Belzig: Parade and tolerance festival provide a colorful symbol

A colorful festival of tolerance and togetherness is on the program in Bad Belzig in mid-July! The second Christopher Street Day (CSD) will be celebrated there on July 12, 2025, which sends a clear signal for the rights of LGBTQIA+ people. The organizers warmly invite everyone to actively participate in the demonstration and the subsequent tolerance festival. According to maz-online.de, the parade will start at 1 p.m. from the Fläming train station to the old town and with musical accompaniment for a festive atmosphere worry.

The event aims to promote the rights of lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transgenders, intersex and non-binary people as well as queers and to campaign against discrimination. The participation of Andrea Lübcke, the Brandenburg state chairwoman of the Green Party, is particularly pleasing. She will join the many supporters on July 12 and help spread this important message.

A varied program

A meeting will be organized at Bad Belzig train station at 12:30 p.m. before the parade starts at 1 p.m. After the parade, a tolerance festival will take place on the market square between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m., which will feature an artistic performance. Among others, the Bad Belzig gospel choir and the artists Maren Knütter, Stefanie Hoffmann, DJane Crab Apple and Ymmi will be on stage. The tolerance festival promises not only top-class musical entertainment, but also speeches from organizations such as “Grandmas Against the Right” and the Lesbian and Gay Association of Germany (LSVD) as well as the Evangelical Church Community.

The program is also rounded off by an exhibition of photographs by the artist Sareh Oveysi and a diverse culinary offering from regional providers such as the “Fläming Kitchen” and the bistro at the Fläming train station. A “cake bazaar” at the Fläming High School can also provide sweet treats. An awareness team will be present throughout the event to create retreat spaces and resolve any conflicts peacefully.

A sign of respect and acceptance

The organizers emphasize the importance of promoting an atmosphere of respect and acceptance. In recent days there have been reports of CSD advertising posters being scrapped, making the need for such events even clearer. Gregor Leich from the Bad Belzig public order office explains that no counter-events have been reported so far, and therefore nothing stands in the way of a peaceful festival.

The CSD in Bad Belzig joins the series of LGBTQ+ celebrations that take place in many European cities. So let's look forward to a colorful day where diversity is celebrated and prejudices are fought. Further information can be found on the event website at csd-belzig.de.

If you would like to learn more about the roots of Christopher Street Day, you can take a look at the informative content on Wikipedia. It is explained here that the CSD is an annual holiday that commemorates the Stonewall riots of 1969 and has an important tradition, particularly in Germany and Switzerland.
