Glindow celebrates: Heike Runge crowned the new cherry queen!

Glindow, Deutschland - in Glindow there is currently hustle and bustle, because the 28th cherry and brick festival is just around the corner. From July 5th to 6th, 2025, visitors will be celebrated with a colorful program on the festival meadow on the Jahnufer on the Jahnufer, which holds up traditions and promotes the sense of community. This year's motto "Live tradition - harvest fruits, shapes of bricks" reflects the connection of the community with its rich history. A real Highlight of the festival is the crowning glory of the new cherry queen Heike Runge, which will take place on July 5th. Their crowning glory will be the start of a weekend full of activities that offer a lot of fun for both the little ones and for adults.

Heike Runge, a passionate gardener and experienced food technologist, will have this special title. Over 50 years old, she not only planted three cherry trees in her garden, but also established a close connection to Glindow, where she enjoys the idyllic location between rural calm and urban proximity. Her term as a cherry queen is not only shaped by the festive splendor, but also by an important community project: donations for the renewal of the hiking trails in the Glindower Alps are collected.

A colorful program awaits visitors: inside

The festival command, under the direction of Janine von Rickelen, who was once a queen herself, has put together a varied program. On Saturday, July 5th, the day starts at 9 a.m. with a badminton and volleyball tournament on the sports field. The winners will be announced at 12:30 p.m.: Interior of the tournaments, followed by a colorful parade at 2:30 p.m. with the music club of the Blütenstadt Werder.

From 3:45 p.m., the festival meadow is the setting for numerous performances: In addition to the crowning glory of Heike Runge, "Glindow's beautiful estate" are also awarded and delicious cherry recipes are chosen. Among other things, DJ Ole with his “Cherry Beach Beats” takes care of the musical entertainment from 6:30 p.m.

The Sunday, July 6th, presents itself with a spiritual early service in the Glindower village church at 10 a.m. and the morning pint with the Ketziner wind orchestra at 11 a.m. A children's course, handicraft tents and market stalls on the festival meadow will be found all day. The crowning glory of the festival is a concert with the mixed choir Glindow and the sound cherries at 5 p.m.
