Large construction work on the RE7: Commuters expects that from Saturday!

Deutsche Bahn has announced some major changes for the RE7 route between Berlin and Michendorf, which should be carefully observed by travelers. From Saturday, July 18, 2025, and until August 8th there will be a temporary change in the timetable. On these days, the trains from Berlin no longer drive to the known stop Potsdam Medienstadt Babelsberg, but end in Michendorf. Substitute buses to Borkheide are used here at regular intervals of twice an hour, where the RE7 regularly starts again. Between 9 and 18 August, however, the Borkheide connection to media city of Babelsberg remains interrupted, while at the same time the course is renewed at Michendorf train station.

The situation at the Seddiner train station is particularly tense, which has not been approached since July 11th. There are larger track renovations here, which the travelers temporarily demand some patience. In the coming time, both rails and thresholds will be changed here and the bedding cleaned. The two tracks in Seddin will remain completely closed until August 22. It is currently still unclear whether the RE7 trains can go through again after this date. Deutsche Bahn has already indicated that the information on single -track blocking is still being processed by September 19th.

changed conditions for commuters

When it comes to commuting time, there will be some adjustments that need to be considered. Many travelers in the direction of Dessau now have to put up with longer transfer times in Borkheide. This switch scenario brings with it some inconvenience. Previously, the original replacement concept stipulated that the RE7 trains only run between Dessau and Borkheide and between media city Babelsberg and Berlin Ostkreuz. The train stations in Beelitz-Heilstätten, Seddin and others were therefore not served. After all, passengers in Michendorf can fall back on the new bus connections that represent an alternative option.

But these are not the only construction work that is due on the RE7 route in the coming months. From September 11th, traffic between Seddin and Dessau Hbf will be exposed to over two months, while extensive work on the tracks and the course is going on. During this time, travelers can fall back on three replacement bus lines that maintain a connection between the main stations. These include the Expressbus Re7a, the RE7B line and the Re7c pendulum bus.

prospects for the rail connections

Deutsche Bahn is in the process of carrying out massive renovations that not only affect the re7. The construction work is expected to continue until December 11th. Other train connections, such as the RB22 and the lines from BER Airport, also have to expect interruptions temporarily. Additional bus traffic between the important stops is planned to alleviate the consequences of the construction work.

Right now it is particularly important to find out about the current timetables and changes. Deutsche Bahn is trying to offer the commuters the best possible replacement solutions. It remains to be seen whether the RE7 trains can go regularly after August 22 again. Information on further construction work and the exact schedules can be found in the relevant apps or on the websites of the train.

For all those who are traveling regularly by train, it is said in the coming months: keeping eyes and ears open to be well informed and make the journey as smooth as possible.
