Large changes in RE7: Construction work burden Beelitzer commuters!

The city of Beelitz is faced with a travel challenge: Deutsche Bahn recently announced changes to the replacement concept for the RE7 during the construction work between Borkheide and Potsdam Medienstadt Babelsberg. These changes, which were announced on Wednesday, affect not only the passengers, but also the entire region. From July 19 to August 22nd, travelers cannot expect any access bid from Beelitz-Heilstätten. Instead, the trains from Berlin let their passengers get out into Michendorf, which brings with it to the travel times of Beelitz-Heilstätten in the direction of Berlin.

What does that mean specifically for commuters and travelers? From July 19 to August 8th and from August 18 from 10 p.m. to August 22, there are extensive changes in train traffic. Passengers have to expect restrictions during the entire construction phase, especially between Borkheide and Potsdam Medienstadt Babelsberg. In the following week, from August 9th to 18th, the originally announced block remains. The exact timetable can be viewed in all timetable information from July 18, but many travelers wonder how it will continue after August 22nd. Further construction work between Beelitz-Heilstätten and Bad Belzig is already in prospect, even if details have not yet been communicated.

renovations at Seddiner Bahnhof

Another point that is important for travelers affects the Seddiner train station. Extensive track renovations begin here on July 4, which also lead to closures. The train station has been closed since 9:30 p.m., which means that the trains no longer hold there. Some stations are affected, including Beelitz-Heilstätten, Seddin, Michendorf, Wilhelmshorst and Potsdam-Rehbrücke. As a result, the RE7 only runs between Dessau and Borkheide and between media city Babelsberg and Berlin Ostkreuz. In order to compensate for the failure of the train connections, replacement traffic with buses between Griebnitzsee and Borkheide is set up. But be careful: at the beginning, only one bus per hour will operate the route, which makes the fear that the replacement buses could be overcrowded.

The Mayor of Beelitz Bernhard Knuth is due to the fact that many travelers are disadvantaged by the narrow space in the buses. Therefore, the city of Beelitz, together with RegioBus and the Potsdam-Mittelmark district, has already requested improvements to the replacement concept. This request is also supported by the Pro Bahn passenger association, which is strong for additional buses.

construction work and future timetable changes

from Monday, July 14th, the efforts for better connections will be visible, because then two replacement buses per hour should run and all affected train stations. However, travelers in the direction of Dessau have to expect a transfer period of 40 minutes in Borkheide. The tracks at the Seddiner train station remain closed until August 22nd, according to which at least one track should be released, but here too remains unclear whether the RE7 trains can then drive through or not.

With all the planning and challenges, Deutsche Bahn tries to create more reliability in the timetables. A modern construction is planned to reduce the frequent and short -term timetable changes. According to Philipp Nagl, the head of the new rail infrastructure daughter Infrago, the goal is to simplify the complex driving process and thus reduce the inconvenience for passengers. How well this works will show time.

Deutsche Bahn Beelitz.de, RBB24 rbb24.de and RP Online rp-online.de keep passengers up to date with ongoing developments. Here the course is set for the future of rail traffic - and passengers can only hope that things will run again soon.
