Raid in southern Brandenburg: drug gang busted with 10 kilos of drugs!

In a decisive strike against drug crime, the police in southern Brandenburg arrested four suspected members of a drug gang on June 19, 2025. The arrests took place as part of an extensive investigation, which also included searches in Berlin and Beelitz. The suspects, including three men and a woman between the ages of 40 and 54, are suspected of being active in the drug trade. It is particularly revealing that two of the men arrested are now in custody.

During the searches, the police were able to seize not only around ten kilograms of drugs, but also several thousand euros in cash and material for drug production. Drugs found during the operations include cocaine, cannabis and crystal meth, highlighting the complexity and scale of the alleged drug trade. “These are not small fish that we caught,” said an investigator. This is also confirmed by Tag24, which highlights comprehensive police measures.

Drug crime on the rise

The current arrests are no coincidence, as drug-related crime in Germany is increasing. According to Statista, around 347,000 cases of drug or drug-related crime were recorded by the police in 2023. This corresponds to an increase of 2 percent compared to the previous year. It is particularly worth noting that around 208,000 of these cases involve cannabis, the use of which has been partially legalized since April 2024.

Nevertheless, cannabis is still the main player in the drug market: this substance accounts for over 90 percent of drug cases. But the number of drug trafficking offenses is also considerable: around 55,500 such offenses were registered in 2023, which illustrates the drug problem in Germany. Drug-related crime is not only an important issue for the police, but also for society - the number of drug-related deaths is increasing at an alarming rate. In 2023, around 2,230 people died as a result of drug abuse, which is often due to long-term health damage.

These arrests in Brandenburg clearly show that the efforts of law enforcement crews are needed to combat this growing trend. A clear sign that the ranks of drug traffickers are no longer standing idly by and are taking decisive action against organized crime.
