Crisis in Pritzwalk: Gynecological practice closes – those affected are looking for support!

The announcement by Dr. Marita Becker's decision to close the gynecologist's practice in Pritzwalk on November 30th caused great concern in the region. In addition to the honorable doctor, the patient's well-being is also at stake, because several hundred girls and women now urgently have to look for a new gynecologist. In the surrounding area there are only practices in Perleberg, Wittstock, Wittenberge and Neuruppin, which makes the search considerably more difficult. As the clinic management company (KMG) reports, an intensive search is underway for a successor, but so far there have been no serious interested parties to take over the practice.

Dr. Becker, who looked after women in all phases of life in her practice and always tried to give her patients a feeling of security and well-being, will be noticeably missed in the region after her departure. Her range of services included everything from preventive examinations to individual consultations and the treatment of gynecological diseases. Personal contact with her patients and the opportunity to discuss concerns without shame were always of the utmost importance to her reports the KMG.

Fears about the A14 and other issues

But it's not just medical care that is causing unrest in Prignitz. The continued construction of the A14 is also at risk, as the Federal Ministry of Finance intends to invest over 160 billion euros in transport investments by 2029. A spokesman for the ministry emphasizes that no area is more in focus than transport. Improvements in planning and approval procedures are intended to avoid future problems. As many citizens fear, this could have an impact on the entire region.

Another issue that affects households in the region is the reliable half-day primary school in Putlitz. This will be discontinued from the coming school year, which means for many families that they will have to forego the regulations for childcare times. Private after-school care offers cannot always be accepted as the ideal solution. Parents and teachers have already started a petition and will discuss how to proceed in the city council on November 20th.

Culture and history at a glance

In other news from the region, Norman Guhl from Glövzin, who collects old trucks and tractors from the GDR, stands out. His treasures also include two IFA-L60 vehicles. Guhl has a keen sense of the flair of bygone times and uses concrete slabs from the GDR for his garden path. He also regularly goes to classic car meetings with his daughter; He makes no secret of the fact that the effort involved in the journeys is considerable.

The numerous challenges that Prignitz is definitely facing will continue to concern people in the region. Whether it's about healthcare, education or the future of infrastructure - the coming months will be crucial!
