Pilgrim festival in Wilsnack: Celebrate with beer, art and unforgettable music!
On August 16, 2025, the Wilsnacker Wunderblut Church will be the setting for a festive event that is not only about the tradition of pilgrimage, but also about conviviality and culture. The support association invites you to the pilgrimage festival, which starts at 11 a.m. in the estate park right next to the church and offers visitors a variety of attractions. The hall is framed by an artisan market with around 20 stalls offering regional jewelry, fine ceramics and artistically crafted woodwork. There is something for every taste here, so you can stroll through the stalls at your leisure.
The anticipation is in the air, because the premiere of the Wilsnacker Festbier will take place at 12 p.m. The first barrel is ceremoniously tapped and visitors can look forward to refreshing drinks. After the beer has been tapped, the ticket sales for the popular raffle begin. Here everyone has the chance to win great prizes with a little luck. Anyone looking for an active start to the festival can hike from the Plattenburg to the Wunderblut Church at 10 a.m., with shuttles taking participants comfortably to the Plattenburg from 9 a.m.
A cultural highlight
But the pilgrimage festival is not only a festival of enjoyment, but also of culture. At 4 p.m. a theater performance about the beginnings of the miracle blood legend will be presented. Written by Bärbel Mann, this piece will captivate visitors. Parts of the theater also take place in Groß Lüben. The afternoon program is accompanied musically by the ensemble “Die Saitenspinner” from Schwerin, who ensure the right atmosphere. The festival ends with the “Several Gents” with their rousing Irish folk music, which is played in the atmospheric candlelight in the estate park.
In Wilsnack, pilgrimage is not just seen as a spiritual journey, but as an experience for the entire community. The Jakobusgesellschaft Berlin-Brandenburg-Oderregion will provide information on various pilgrimage routes, including the newly opened Mariannenweg. Pilgrimage, it is explained, has a long tradition. Not only is it mentioned in the New Testament, but it is also a central part of many faiths. Walking the path is intended to offer freedom, inner contemplation and a welcome change from everyday life. Anyone interested in the many pilgrimage routes can find numerous suggestions and information about this special experience at Pilgern.de.
Community and gratitude
The last pilgrimage festival was a great success. In bright summer weather, which cleverly guided the rain clouds around the church tower, numerous visitors streamed into the event. The helpers in the over 40 Wilsnacker kitchens did a great job, and the income from the cake sale and the barbecue stand was pleasingly high. The numerous musical and theater performances enriched the festival and gave it a special touch. A big thank you goes to all the musicians, helpers, participants and sponsors who contributed to the success.
The coach house, which the support association has lovingly renovated and converted, not only provides an attractive ambience, but is also equipped with modern technology - including an industrial dishwasher to promote sustainability. Preparations are already underway for the upcoming meeting festival in the park at the old pilgrim church, and the team is looking forward to August 16, 2025. So if you don't want to miss a day full of culture, enjoyment and community, you should mark this date in red in your calendar!
