There's a lot going on in Wittenberge! Preparations for a new exhibition archive in the Ratskeller are in full swing. There is a lot of work going on in the basement of the town hall: custom-made shelves are being installed, lights are being installed and the first moving boxes are being packed. The aim is to give citizens better access to the treasures of the city archive. On June 28th, as part of the town hall festival to mark the city's 111th birthday, interested parties are invited to take a first look at the new archive. The gates will open from 11am to 4pm and it will be a fabulous opportunity to see what's on offer that will make the City Archives even more attractive.

However, city archivist Carola Lembke warns that not everything will be perfectly arranged on the open day. Nevertheless, visitors can marvel at the rooms with their impressive wooden paneling, paintings and colorful glazed windows. In the new public area of the archive you will find newspaper archives, municipal minutes, civil status documents as well as CDs and videos - true to the motto: there is something for every need for information. The costs for the redesign are also impressive: 105,000 euros are invested in structural maintenance, while the equipment costs a further 140,000 euros. The Ehrhorn carpentry shop takes care of the floor work, while the Block Ladenbau company from Bad Wilsnack takes care of the interior design.
