Kita Pittiplatsch” in Zinna Monastery: Worries and imminent changes!

In the city of Jüterbog, especially in the Kloster Zinna district, there are worrying developments surrounding the municipal daycare center “Pittiplatsch”. Stephan Trosien, a committed father and representative of the newly founded support association, expresses serious concerns about the conditions. In a conversation, Trosien described that the daycare center was affected by massive problems during his son's time at the daycare center, including leaky roofs and outdated sanitary facilities. But there is also positive news: According to the city administration, the leaky roof has now been repaired for around 12,000 euros.

This repair is only part of the necessary measures. In the future, a complete roof replacement and extensive painting work in the hallways and changing rooms are planned for 2024 and 2025. The city of Jüterbog has also completed fire protection measures and the last inspection by the health department took place on November 6, 2024. Despite these advances, a large number of parents avoid the daycare center because, in their opinion, the building no longer meets today's requirements.

New club brings a breath of fresh air

In order to help the daycare center, the “Association for the Promotion of the Pittiplatsch Daycare Center” was founded on February 18, 2024. The aim of the association is clear: to support the institution financially through celebrations and creative activities. The chairmen Romy Franz, Nicole Schneider and Vivien Tschöpe are actively committed to the concerns of the daycare center. The association is officially recognized as a non-profit organization, which opens up many opportunities for donations and sponsorship.

The association tries to raise money through various events. The focus is on successes such as the first flea market, which is scheduled to take place on May 1st annually. The club also took part in the craft market in Zinna Monastery, where it sold bratwursts, pulled pork, ice cream and drink packets - the proceeds of course benefit the daycare center. An upcoming summer party to mark the daycare's 35th anniversary is also being organized by the support association and will contribute to community building.

Health and equipment in focus

Another aspect highlighted by Trosien are the results of the drinking water tests, which fortunately did not reveal any complaints. A washing machine for the children's laundry is also included in the plans for 2026. In order to obtain the operating license, the total number of places is always updated and adapted to local needs. The “Pittiplatsch” daycare center currently has 66 approved places, with 20 reserved for those under three years old and 46 for those over three years old.

For the coming years, 500,000 euros are already planned for the new daycare center in the 2024 budget, followed by a further 125,000 euros in 2025. But the order of the projects must also be taken into account; The daycare center at Neumarkt is on the priority list ahead of the daycare center in Kloster Zinna. The status will be reviewed again on December 3, 2026 as part of the budget submission.

The community is called upon to participate actively, be it through silent membership in the support association or through support at events. Information can be viewed in the daycare center, where membership applications are also available. In conclusion, it should be noted that at Zinna Monastery there is obviously “something happening” in order to meet the challenges of looking after the little ones and to promote positive development for the daycare center.
