Robbery theft in Trebbin: Man arrested after escaping!

On Wednesday, July 10, 2025, an exciting incident occurred in a supermarket in Trebbin, which aroused the interest of the criminal investigation department of the Teltow-Fläming police station. A 35-year-old man tried to leave the store without paying for his purchases. As a result, the theft alarm went off several times, which attracted the attention of an employee. She asked the man to hand over his backpack to be checked. But instead of cooperating, the suspect fled.

The colleague bravely stood in front of the fleeing vehicle. Luckily, she was able to escape with a jump at the last second and was uninjured. Shortly afterwards, the police met the man who had been driving a car in the early afternoon whose license plates had been changed. During a search of the trunk, the officers found suspected stolen goods as well as the license plates that were directly linked to the theft.

Investigations are ongoing

But that wasn't all. The man also didn't have a driver's license and was under the influence of narcotics, as a test confirmed. As a result, he was temporarily arrested. The police filed charges of theft, driving under the influence of drugs, driving without a license and forging documents. In order to preserve all evidence, the vehicle was impounded and the suspect had to provide a blood sample. However, after the police measures were completed, he was released on the instructions of the public prosecutor. What exactly the man stole from the supermarket remains unclear for the time being and is part of the further investigation, as CityReport informs.

Predatory thefts are a recurring issue in Germany. According to Brandenburg Police, the statistics for predatory thefts are becoming more and more current. In 2022, according to Statista, over 38,000 robbery crimes were recorded by the police. The most common cases involve handbag snatches and gas station robberies. With a clearance rate of almost 60%, the successful investigation rate for robberies is higher than that for residential burglaries, which is only 16.1%.

This incident in Trebbin shows once again how important cooperation between citizens and the police is in order to prevent such crimes. The increase in crime, particularly in the area of theft and robbery, is an issue that concerns many people and that we will continue to observe in the future.
